It’s funny. As I thought about what to write in today’s blog, I found myself getting worried because I didn’t have much to say, as if all of you reading this would be disappointed or bored because nothing exciting happened today. In all reality, though, that’s really just about the best news I could possibly give.
It’s kind of like the saying “no news is good news.” What it means is that we’re getting this figured out, and things are going well, at least relatively. And I don’t dare complain about that.
We started out the day with another gift, this time from my Aunt Cleo and Uncle Art.
I’d like to tell you that Elijah won the first game, but daddy is just a little too good! Come on, I can’t let him win everything! We had fun playing, and look forward to playing it a lot more.
Before we knew it, it was lunch time. After lunch we got to talk to Julia’s brother Chris and his family. We wanted to wish him a happy birthday and the kids were super excited to video chat with their cousins in Ohio. Then it was rest time and more Lego building.
Elijah finally got to play with his friend, and our neighbor, Kevin today. I set them up to play Mario Kart so they could do that together since most of their playing usually involves running around and being silly. That’s been the best thing about our new video game system. It puts everyone on the same level with Elijah and he can still have fun.
Our good friends, the Smiths, joined us for dinner which was very graciously provided by them, and then hung around afterwards for games and conversation. We always have a great time when we get to hang out with them. I guess the exciting part of the day, if you want to call it that, was when Elijah vomited up his entire dinner while sitting at his table. He has a very sensitive gag reflex and something didn’t feel quite right in his mouth, so everything came back up. At least nobody was sitting at his table with him at that point. Vomiting is actually on the list of things to look out for during his recovery so Julia was a bit worried, but I don’t think there was any reason for it other than his hypersensitive gag reflex, so we’re not going to call the doctor about it unless he does it again.
He took another shower tonight and that went pretty well for the second time in a row, so we’re happy about that.
Oh, and one more thing: we finally got Elijah’s wheelchair fully licensed, so he can legally drive on the road.
Haha, yeah right! This was actually his idea though. He mentioned an old license plate we had and asked me if I could attach it to the back of his wheelchair, so I did. We’ll leave it on there and hopefully it’ll give some people a chuckle.
