1 week from today.

Can you believe that it’s been almost 2 weeks since Elijah had surgery? Time is seeming to fly these days. And what we’re really looking forward to, is his appointment with the doctor one week from today.

It’s during this appointment that they’ll take the first x-rays since his surgery and they’ll be able to tell us how fast he’s healing. They also be able to make sure everything is healing correctly. There’s even a slight chance that they may give us the okay to take Elijah in the pool. I’m not sure exactly how that would work, or even how I feel about it, but that’s something they mentioned to Julia when we were in the hospital. Either way we are really excited for that appointment and to see the progress he’s making. It also signifies that he’s likely somewhere around the halfway mark of being able to walk again. I’m sure time will continue to move quickly until then.

Today was a busy day. We started out with another gift session, this time opening some more presents from the Finley family. Elijah and Abigail both loved their presents, and they always are especially fond of the ones from the kids!

After breakfast we had to head to Phoenix Children’s Hospital to pick up refills of Elijah’s medications. This was the longest trip we’ve taken, and Elijah didn’t seem to have any problems with riding in the car that far. After that we headed to a store to pick up some supplies for projects were going to work on, and then headed to Grandma and Grandpa Rice’s Shop for the weekly visit. After a quick lunch and a short rest time, our friends from the Rec Center Mr. Pat and Mrs. Jo brought us some delicious dinner. I tell you, we’ve been getting spoiled by everybody for sure! Elijah also got to spend some time building Legos with his friend Kevin.

It was a busy and fast day. For some reason, Elijah seemed a bit fussier today than normal. I’m not sure why, but he just seemed to complain about most things today. Maybe it’s because we woke up a bit earlier today so he didn’t get as much sleep. Who knows?

On a different and more amusing note, we’ve found that Elijah makes an excellent impromptu shopping cart when necessary. We find ourselves sometimes putting things on him either at stores or here at the house when we don’t have quite enough hands. He doesn’t seem to mind helping!
