Excited about tomorrow.

Don’t get me wrong, today was a good day, and I want to make sure that we’re not always focused on what’s going to happen in the future, but enjoying the time that we have right now. However, we are really looking forward to his doctor’s appointment tomorrow.

Today was a fairly normal day. It was his second day of home-schooling, and Julia says she’s pretty happy with how it’s going so far. We did ask Elijah how he’s liking it and he said “pretty good, well I don’t really like it, but I’ll say I do” or something like that. That didn’t sit too well with Julia, but I don’t think he really understood what he was saying. The reason I think that is because when I asked him what he didn’t like about it, he told me things that happened in his classroom last year at kindergarten. So he was just stating things that he didn’t really like about school in general and not really things that had to do with his home schooling so far. I’m optimistic that he will in fact like it, or grow to like it, and he even told us that he was looking forward to the fun activities we are going to do. I’m sure it’ll take a little time to really get into a solid routine and for both he and Julia to feel totally comfortable with it, but it’ll be worth it.

During his schooling, I took Abigail to a dentist appointment. She just had a cleaning and some X-rays. She was the most excited about the toys she got at the end. She did a good job, though she does have a cavity!

Our our friend Noelle came over to visit today with her twin girls, and that was fun. You don’t realize how big your own kids are getting until you see them next to some younger ones. The twins are cuties, and Elijah and Abigail we’re happy they got to see them. Noelle also brought some gifts for the kids, and they were very appreciative of that as well!

Our afternoon was much like yesterday, with the kids having lunch and rest time, and Julia and I working on projects. Elijah got to play with Kevin for a while before dinner, and then we tried to rush the kids through dinner so we could go get ice cream. The rushing part didn’t really work, but we did go get ice cream afterwards. Our ice cream was a gift from our good friend Miss Lala from the rec center. This was her treat, and it was a great treat at that!

After ice cream, we walked over to another store and looked around for a bit just to be out of the house a little while longer. Then it was back home and into bed.

Elijah is still doing well using only over-the-counter medications. His rash seems to be doing a little better, though it’s not gone. We can tell that he is definitely healing because he is more comfortable moving around and pushing himself harder these days. Things do still hurt him or make him uncomfortable, but he doesn’t complain too much. And we’ve been spending a little more time out of the wedge now and then just to give him some time to move his legs around a little bit more.

But tomorrow is a big day. It’s his first big progress report on how his recovery is going. We can’t wait to hear the news, even if it’s not quite what we’re hoping for, we just want to know how it’s going. It looks like he’s doing good from the outside, but we need to know that he’s doing good on the inside as well.

On another note, we are finally getting our plumbing leak fixed tomorrow. We chose to go with a small family-owned company because we like to support those types of businesses, but that also meant it took longer for them to be able to get out here to do the fix. So, it’s been leaking consistently since last week. At this point it’s leaking probably 10 to $15 worth of water each day, so we’re excited to finally get it fixed, even though that’s very pricey as well.

Those are two things that you can be praying for tomorrow. First and foremost pray that Elijah’s appointment goes well and we get a good report. Secondly pray that there are no issues with our plumbing leak being fixed. We’ll let you know how it all goes tomorrow!
