Very little pain.

I’m finding that I need to change what I’m putting in the blog, at least to some degree. Our days are starting to become routine enough that it would be boring for all of you to read the same things everyday. I do already try to focus on the differences and the highlights, but I think I need to do more of that and less of the normal day-to-day stuff. So that’s what I’ll try to do.

Here’s what I wanted to share about today. I forget exactly what I was doing, but I was doing something with Elijah and I was wondering if it was hurting him or if he had been having any pain. The more I thought about this, I realized that I had not given him any pain medicine in a number of days. This wasn’t that big of a surprise, because Julia would mostly handle this throughout the day, but still I hadn’t noticed her giving it to him either. So, I asked her if she had been giving him his pain medicine. She said no, and that it was intentional. She said she hadn’t given him any in a few days. I was a little bit surprised at that, but also not too shocked because he’s been doing so well just with over the counter medicine. However, he did make a comment tonight about his bandages hurting on his incisions, so maybe tomorrow we’ll give him some medicine if it’s still hurting. I’m not sure if that was just caused by something catching on his bandages, or if it’s just the scabs or incision itself. Either way it wasn’t bad enough that he needed pain medicine tonight.

We did have a couple times today where he got a bit sad that he couldn’t do things other kids were doing, and he’s talking more and more about what he wants to do when he can walk again. There are a lot of things on that list!

Overall, it was a good day, and he’s still doing very well.
