Before we get to the jump, I wanted to share a funny little story. Today Julia took the kids to Bible study. It went well, though I didn’t know Elijah was a little thief.
Okay, that’s not really accurate. I just wanted to leave you with a little cliffhanger. When they got home from Bible study, I met them out in the driveway to help unload Elijah from the van. As I took him out, I found a crayon in his lap. As I moved him to his wheelchair, I kept finding more and more crayons. He had at least three or four hidden in his wedge and wheelchair. Turns out, he was coloring a picture at Bible study, and keeping some of the crayons in his lap for easy access. Well, he lost some of them in all of his equipment and ended up bringing them home with him. It was humorous to find all these crayons in little nooks and crannies on him and his wheelchair!
But what you’re really reading this for is to hear about the jump. Don’t get your hopes up too high, but it is a milestone in some fashion. We went for a swim tonight, and Elijah was very slowly making his way into the pool. It’s been cooling off the past couple weeks and he’s quite sensitive to the cold. Anyway, as he was making his way in he decided he wanted to jump in from the last step. This was okay as most of him was already in the water, and we didn’t figure it would be much of a jump anyways. But I wanted to share it with all of you, so you could see his first jump since the surgery. He even does another one right after. Like I said, not much of a jump, but a big leap to us!
You are doing so good Elijah. You are starting to use your legs and they will get better and better. Grandpa Atwood and Grandma Atwood love you lots.
