It may seem like something as simple or silly as a piggyback ride wouldn’t be a big deal. For us, however, it’s huge.
I guess, more specifically for me, it’s huge. You see, I’ve tried to give Elijah piggyback rides in the past, and he’s asked me to give him rides, but it never worked. I mean, maybe it did when he was a baby, or toddler, but I can’t remember the last time I was able to give him a piggyback ride. He just wasn’t able to spread his legs wide enough to be able to ride like that. So, we just didn’t do it most of the time. Occasionally he’d see his sister or somebody else doing it and he’d want to try again, so we would try, only to be hit with the reality that it still didn’t work.
I told Julia before the surgery that one of the biggest signs of success I would be looking for after the surgery, would be that he could ride piggyback on us. I know it’s kind of a silly goal, and one that isn’t really that beneficial, but it was always something that was a clear sign of him missing out. He could do most everything else even if it didn’t work quite right, but he could never ride on our backs. I assumed, or rather hoped, that the surgery would take care of this, but I just wasn’t sure, and I never specifically asked the doctors whether he’d be able to get a piggyback ride.
Well, tonight while we were getting ready for bed, I was in one room while Julia and Elijah were doing something in another room. I heard Julia call to me with excitement in her voice, and next thing I knew she came marching into the room with Elijah on her back, full piggyback style!

Two two months ago this wasn’t possible. I thank God for the progress that were seeing and for all of the increases we’ve seen so far with his mobility. He still has a long way to go, and we still ask for your prayers to help us along the way. But we thank God for all of the answered prayers up to this point and for all of you who helped in some way!
Awww, I LOVE IT! Thank you Lord Jesus. That truly is a special gift from him. I pray you find many other wonderful special things the Lord will enable him to do in this new physical condition. I love you guys.
