A bad magician.

It was another good day, despite a fairly contentious battle between Elijah and Abigail for rights to the iPad. That got a little intense, and resulted in it being taken away from both of them, but other than that things were pretty good.

We started off with church today, where Elijah got to see some people that he hadn’t seen since his surgery. He got to show them how well he could move himself around in his wheelchair. Here he is showing off his skills for the camera.

Our afternoon was pretty relaxed for the kids, but Julia and I were quite busy working on projects of our own. Tomorrow, Elijah will start his home schooling, so Julia has been very busy making sure she has everything ready for this week. You can pray that it goes well since it will be a transition for both of them, and he is still on medication which makes it a little hard for him to focus.

On Sunday nights, we go to Grandma and Grandpa Rice’s house for dinner. Some of the Bucher family was in Flagstaff for a soccer tournament so we had a bit of a smaller group tonight. That means our crowd for our magic show was a little small. That’s okay though, we’re still practicing.

Elijah doesn’t make a very good magician. He likes to tell everyone that it’s not really magic and tries to explain to them how the tricks work. Other than that, though, the tricks work pretty well and we got some good reactions from our crowd. We’ll have to do some more shows!

Abigail is spending the night at Grandma and Grandpa Rice’s, and since it was present day, Elijah got to open a present tonight. This was another one from the Finley family.

He’s been given so many great presents, and they’ve all helped to not only cheer him up, but also to give him so many things to work on and to help pass time over the days and weeks. Abigail has also gotten a lot of great presents too, so she doesn’t feel left out.

One thing you can pray for, that is a recent development, is some sort of rash that has appeared on Elijah’s bottom. We’re not sure exactly what it is or what’s causing it. So far it doesn’t seem to be bothering him, but we don’t want it to get any worse or to start bothering him. We’ll talk to someone tomorrow about it, and put some ointment on it tonight that should hopefully help. But it’s not like he can get off of his bottom, so if it starts to bother him we’re going to be in trouble.

It should be a busy week with Elijah doing schooling and all of the other things we hope to do. We don’t feel like we have really done too many fun things outside of the house, so we’ll try to do more of that this week while I’m still off of work. But we still have our normal things to do as well as some other things like doctors and dentist appointments, so we’ll see how much we get to do.

  1. So glad so many are being faithful to remember him with gifts and prayers. And Abigail too. It’s got to add a powerful positive memory for him about his surgery in later life. Thank you all
